“Dan, take a picture of the lechon,” asked Abel. I did, with Felix chopping it. Now and then a hand comes from nowhere picking a piece of the crispy skin. Ben Castro who is in Sydney gave the big roasted pig thru Abel. We had a sumptuous meal with the over-flowing food that each one brought for potluck. The ladies received one piece of rose each, the men likewise received bottles of red wine. The roses and wine were compliments of Teng Villarente from far-away California, coursed thru Butch Botin. A few weeks before May 24th, there was a suggestion not to hold a summer outing this year due to recession. A few days later, however, our cell phones were filled with messages that we have to come for this occasion as the venue, a hot spring resort with private pool in Los Baños, Calamba, has been paid for by Ding and Susan Mayor. And so we had a summer outing with the children and even grand children of our members. Ben and Teng [in conference with Nick Obas] called wishing us a happy summer reunion. Zeny and the leadership took the opportunity to hold a meeting; the agenda included our Class ’66 projects and its financial reports that will be finalized and posted in our website. Pacita Baltazar suggested good ideas about our projects and facilitation of contributions from the NorthAm counterparts. We did not finish the lechon and most of the food, so Susan packed them and gave each one of us to take home. /DannyR |
